Genuine rock star and big soccer fan, former Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant was pleasantly surprised and humbled by Wolverhampton Wolves soccer team gesture. They decided to appoint Plant as vice president of the club.

Tottenham defeated Liverpool 2-1 at the beginning of the new Premier League season. They scored first when defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto hit the target with amazing shot and assist from Croatian playmaker Luka Modric.
Liverpool erased advantage by Steven Gerrard penalty kick. Three minutes later Modric crossed and Sebastian Bassong header was enough for Spurs win.

Friendly encounter is not what we saw at Penarol vs Newell’s Old Boys match. Play was stopped in 40. minute and reason given was massive brawl.

Main event of sixth round qualifications for World Cup 2010 in South Africa in group CONCACAF was derby between USA and Mexico. Mexico was better team and won the match 2:1, preserving tradition of successive wins in duels with United States. Match was played at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
