While fans of the competition for the best song of Europe eagerly await the start of 62. edition in Kiev, Ukraine, which will be held on May 9, betting community the biggest chance of winning give to Italian singer Francesco Gabbani.
It was announced yesterday that Gabbani will represent Italy with Eurovision version of the song “Occidental’s Karma” and that came after the February victory at the Sanremo Music Festival. The song quickly became popular and they have high expectations for the 34-year-old singer-songwriter.
43 countries are participating
As many as 43 countries will compete this year in the semi-finals on 9 and 11 May, and we will see the most successful contestants in the final on 13 May.
Along with representatives of the Italy, bookmakers give good chance to the Belgian representatives Blanche who sings “City Lights”.
Also, there is a Sweden choice with successful choreography for the song “I Can not Go On” by Robin Bengtsson, a young man who is considered to be the Nordic version of Adam Levine, frontman of the band Maroon 5.
In fourth place is Portugal who are back in competition after a year absence. This time we will hear “Amar pelos dois”, a song performed by Salvador Sobral.
Among the top five Eurovision betting favorites is Bulgaria which sent Kristian Kostov to sing the ballad “Beautiful Mess”.
Serbia is listed about 12. place on bookmakers list. This country will be represented by a pop singer Tijana Bogicevic with “In Too Deep”.
Controversy and politics
The most controversial part of this year’s Eurovision contest is inclusion of Russia and Julia Somoylova who is performing “Flame is Burning”.
The singer is in a wheelchair and she sang in the occupied Crimea, which Ukraine disputes, but they decided nevertheless to let Julia appear in Kiev.
Ukraine will be represented by rock band O.Torvald with the song “Time”. So far, they are 26th on the betting list.
